Inspired by her mother’s splendid storytelling and her daughter’s penchant for tall tales, Deepa Ramanathan decided to spin a few yarns of her own. Watching her energetic 3-year-old stuck indoors during one of Singapore’s long and wet spells led to the creation of her first book, The Sun is Missing.
As a mother and a yoga practitioner, Deepa is keenly aware of the quality of our presence, and of how completely children inhabit their world. It is this utter and complete immersion, the sense of wonder that children possess and the delight they derive from seemingly trivial things that Deepa hopes to capture through her books.
Tropic of Tales is the imprint under which Deepa publishes.
