Inspired by her mother’s splendid storytelling and her daughter’s penchant for tall tales, Deepa Ramanathan decided to spin a few yarns of her own. Watching her energetic 3-year-old stuck indoors during one of Singapore’s long and wet spells led to the creation of her first book. As a mother and a yoga practitioner, Deepa is keenly aware of the quality of our presence, and of how completely children inhabit their world. It is this utter and complete immersion, the sense of wonder that children possess and the delight they derive from seemingly trivial things that Deepa hopes to capture through her books. 

Deepa authored The Sun is Missing and If You Were a Monkey, the first two books published under the Tropic of Tales imprint. 

Anna Panchuk is a children’s book illustrator with over five years of experience creating charming and joyful illustrations. Inspired by her daughter during maternity leave, she began drawing for children’s books and quickly found her passion in bringing stories to life through art. Her works, known for their warmth and playful style, have gained popularity on platforms such as Amazon. Anna continues to create illustrations that spark imagination and delight young readers around the world.
